PYEONGCHANG, South Korea — When Chloe Kim became the first woman to land back-to-back 1080s, at the U.S. Grand Prix in 2016, she had the luxury of having already wrapped up the title.
She was in the same position today, but this time she was the owner of her first Olympic gold medal.
With nothing to lose, Kim went for a victory lap: she landed a 1080. And, yes, she landed another. It was a run to remember and it was awarded with the biggest score of the day, a near perfect 98.25.
The American Arielle Gold had a strong run to knock her countrywoman, Kelly Clark out of the bronze medal position.
