Early Friday morning it was announced that a swimmer has failed a drug test at the Rio Olympics.
According to the Associated Press, the Chinese Swimming Association announced that 18-year old swimmer Chen Xinyi has failed a drug test and will not be competing anymore in Rio. Chen, who was supposed to swim in the women’s 50 free preliminary heats Friday, finished fourth in the 100 meter butterfly final Sunday.
Chen won gold in three event at the 2014 Asian Games, the 50 free, 100 butterfly and 4×100 free, and she was also a member of the team that won gold in the 4×100 medley at last year’s World Championships.
