Bryan Clay, Olympic decathlon champion, pulls daughter’s tooth with javelin

Bryan Clay hasn’t thrown a javelin in competition in nearly three years, but the 2008 Olympic decathlon champion recently put one to good use.

Clay’s daughter Ellie had a loose tooth that needed pulling, so the retired gold medalist took her out to a field and brought a javelin and a string of floss along, too. Clay said on Twitter that it was Ellie’s idea.

Clay, 35, took Olympic silver in 2004 and gold in 2008 before failing to make the 2012 U.S. Olympic team.

In 2016, the reigning Olympic gold and silver medalists Ashton Eaton and Trey Hardee could become the third straight American to take the Olympic decathlon title.
