Bicycle fall takes swimmer Kosuke Hagino out of Worlds

After flying back to Japan from a training camp in Vichy, France, Japanese swimmer Kosuke Hagino confirmed that he will be unable to compete at the 2015 FINA World Championships.

Hagino, 2012 Olympic bronze medalist in the 400 IM, fractured his right elbow after falling off his bicycle on the way to practice last Sunday. Kyodo News reported that at a press conference in Tokyo, he said, “I was cycling on a roadway, but it was congested and seemed dangerous so I decided to move on to a sidewalk. Then I couldn’t run on well, the bicycle slipped and fell over.
