Ashton Eaton, Brianne Theisen-Eaton are redefining success after retiring

NEW YORK — Thirty draining interviews have come and gone, most conducted via satellite with television shows across the country, leaving Ashton Eaton and his wife, Brianne Theisen-Eaton, more than ready for lunch.

Who knew retirement would be so demanding? It really hasn’t been, minus the busy morning in Manhattan. After medaling in last summer’s Rio Games, the couple has taken on a dramatically slower pace, content in gradually adjusting to the rhythms of a post-athletics lifestyle after years of chasing Olympic gold.

“Since we announced our retirement we got a dog and literally have been sitting at home trying to figure out what we’re doing with our lives,” Theisen-Eaton said.
