2018 Paralympics: USA leads way as records set for number of competitors, countries

The Pyeongchang 2018 Paralympic Winter Games ended on Sunday. Here’s a look at the Games by the numbers according to the organizing committee:

  • 567 athletes, 48 National Paralympic Committees competing, both records for the Games
  • 68 athletes from the USA, the largest contingent in Pyeongchang

  • 36 athletes over six disciplines for host Republic of Korea, that country’s largest contingent ever
  • 3 countries making their debut: North Korea, Georgia and Tajikistan

  • 814 media from 29 countries; 2,213 television personnel
  • 157% of ticket sales target sold (345,000).
