Kurt Sinnen’s bases-loaded single in the bottom of the ninth lifted Old Dominion to a 6-5 non-conference victory over VMI, running the Monarchs’ winning streak to seven games.
After VMI (13-11) tied the game with three runs in the top of the ninth, ODU (18-4) rallied.
Justin Hayes (Western Branch High) opened the inning with a walk and moved to second on Connor Myers’ sacrifice bunt. With one out, the Keydets intentionally walked Nick Walker (Kellam). Then Chris Livers (First Colonial) reached on an infield single with two outs to load the bases. That set the stage for Sinnen (Kellam).
