Oakland rallied from a 3-1 deficit to defeat Old Dominion 5-4 on a walk-off hit by pitch in the Sunshine State Classic baseball tournament Saturday at Osceola Heritage Park.
Monarchs freshman starter Hunter Gregory (Hickory) pitched 4u2153 innings of no-hit ball, but exited after throwing 87 pitches. ODU (1-1) still led 3-1 before Oakland scored three runs – two of which were unearned – off reliever Erik Stock in the bottom of the seventh to go up 4-3.
Vinnie Pasquantino's sacrifice fly tied it at 4 in the eighth.
ODU reliever Corey Klak struggled with control, allowing two walks and the hit batsman that ended the game.
