UAB strikes for six runs early, sends ODU to sixth straight loss

Tanner Graham tossed a four-hitter and Brett Blackwood had two homers and four RBIs as UAB downed Old Dominion 6-3 in the opener of a three-game Conference USA baseball series on Friday night at the Bud Metheny Complex.

The Blazers (15-17, 7-6) scored three runs each in the first and third innings to snap a three-game losing streak. The Monarchs (10-22, 3-10) dropped their sixth straight.

Blackwood’s three-run homer in the first helped UAB jump on ODU starter Erik Stock (Greenbrier Christian) early. Stock (1-2) allowed all six runs – three earned – in three innings.

Will Morgan and Kyle Battle each drove in a run for the Monarchs in the third inning.
