Tuesday's regional sports roundup: Inzana becomes Norfolk State's first softball MEAC Coach of Year

James Inzana becameNorfolk State's first Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference softball Coach of the Year after leading the Spartans to first place in the Northern Division.

Two NSU players made the first team: senior catcher Kylee Lopez of Norfolk and outfielder Shelby DesChamps of Virginia Beach. The first team also included N.C. Central third baseman Dalika Wallace of Newport News. NSU senior pitcher Hunter Halford earned a spot on the second team, and sophomore pitcher Skylar Swain of Portsmouth was voted to the third team.

Also in college softball:

  • Sophomore pitcher Keely Rochard, a Warhill High graduate and former Daily Press Player of the Year, was among five Virginia Tech players who made the All-Atlantic Coast Conference softball first team after leading the Hokies to first place in the conference regular season.
