Apprentice 5, Wright State Lake Campus 4

Thomas Packert capped his four-RBI day by singling home the winning run in the eighth inning as the Builders (33-7) improved their winning streak to 23 games with perhaps their most important triumph in that span.

The victory improved Apprentice to 2-0 in the U.S. Collegiate Athletic Association Small College World Series in DuBois, Pa., and made the Builders one of the last two teams without a loss in the double-elimination event. They will play at 3 p.m. Wednesday against Penn State DuBois or Bryant & Stratton of Albany, with a chance to reach the championship round.
