CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. - Jana Melichova, Sana Tufail and Abigail Portyrata were named All-American Scholars by the Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) on Monday afternoon. The criteria to the All-America Scholar Team is a 3.50 cumulative GPA.
Melichova, who was named VaSID Rookie of the Year and Conference USA Freshman of the Year closed out the year with a 72.9 stroke average. The freshman owns a 3.62 GPA through two semesters. She posted her best career finish in her first-ever collegiate tournament with a 2nd place finish, which included a 66 in the second round. Her 66 in the Golfweek Program Challenge was a school record for lowest 18-hole score.
