They are hurting the women’s game. They are bad for women’s basketball. These are the murmurs amongst the women’s college basketball world about the UConn women’s basketball team. These sentiments were made public by the Boston Globe’s Dan Shaughnessy following UConn’s 98-38 win over Mississippi State to advance out of the Sweet 16.Shaughnessy tweeted “UConn Women beat Miss St. 98-38 in NCAA tourney. Hate to punish them for being great, but they are killing women’s game. Watch? No thanks.”These comments started a conversation which has persisted for years about Geno Aurriemma and the UConn women’s team.
