NORFOLK, Va. – The Old Dominion University Football game on Saturday against Rice will not only be the 68th Oyster Bowl game, but also the Military Appreciation Game.
Prior to the national anthem, at approximately 1:45pm, a two-plane flyover will take place. First, a World War II era AD-4 Skyraider, that flew out of Chambers Field will pass over, followed by a modern day E-2 Hawkeye that is currently stationed at Chambers Field. One of the members of the E-2’s squadron is Alexander Shaw, the step-father of ODU offensive lineman, Eric Magwood.
The executive officer of Naval Station Norfolk, Captain Bradley Rosen, will be present at the game and will be recognized on the field during halftime as part of the Marching Monarch’s halftime show.
