South Hampton Roads players do more than just dot the rosters of both Norfolk State and Old Dominion baseball teams. Many of those area pleayers figure to help determine how successful either team is going to be.
Norfolk State, which won the MEAC North title for the first time last year en route to a 27-16 finish, is led by Grassfield High grad Matt Outman, the conference’s preseason Pitcher of the Year.
“He’s so competitive in the bullpen, long toss, weight room, just general conversation,” said Spartans coach Claudell Clark. “His attitude makes him successful on the mound, and it bleeds over to other players.
