UNC Wilmington asked Old Dominion's Karen Barefoot to become its women's basketball coach, and she could accept as early as Monday.
Swish Appeal, SB Nation's women's basketball Web site, reported the Seahawks made the offer. Sources at ODU, who asked not to be identified, said they expect her to accept.
ODU athletic director Wood Selig confirmed that Barefoot has "been in conversations with UNCW about their vacancy" but said she has not resigned. He would not speculate about her decision, but added: "We are staying in touch with Karen about that potential opportunity."
Barefoot was hired six years ago to replace long-time coach Wendy Larry at a program accustomed to success.
