Eastern Michigan won six of 10 bouts, including a forfeit at 133 pounds, to defeat Old Dominion 25-14 in Mid-American Conference wrestling Sunday at the Convocation Center.
ODU winners: Jack Dechow (184 pounds) by major decision, Kevin Beazley (197), Oscar Smith alum Seldon Wright (165) by major decision and Michael Hayes (149). Dechow and Beazley are each ranked No. 9 nationally in their weight class. Hayes defeated returning NCAA qualifier Nick Barber 6-4.
"Mikey Hayes beating a returning NCAA qualifier and a nationally ranked opponent was the highlight of the day," Monarchs coach Steve Martin said. "Wright, Dechow and Beazley put up a lot of points and that was good to see.
