Old Dominion freshman Michael McGee topped Brock Hudkins of Northern Illinois on Sunday in the 125-pound final at the Mid-American Conference wrestling championships, securing an automatic bid to next week's NCAA tournament in Cleveland.
McGee avenged a regular-season loss to Hudkins with a 3-1 decision.
Oscar Smith High grad Seldon Wright won his third-place bout at 174 pounds, 3-2 over Kent State's Dylan Barreiro, and will also head to Cleveland.
Larry Early dropped his third-place match at 174 pounds, falling to Colin Heffernan of Central Michigan 5-4.
Kenan Carter (149) and Shane Jones (165) won fifth-place matches for the Monarchs, who finished seventh in the eight-team field with 80.
