Ashmore Standing, who is just nine goals away from the Old Dominion season record for goals, has been named the Atlantic Sun's Women's Lacrosse Player of the Year, the league announced Wednesday.
She was one of seven Lady Monarchs garnering all-conference honors.
Standing becomes just the third player in ODU history to be named conference player of the year. The Virginia Beach native (Cape Henry Collegiate) leads the conference in goals (59) for the second consecutive season and is closing in on Cathy Large's 29-year-old record of 67. Standing recorded both her 150th career goal and and 200th career point during the season.
