Old Dominion’s Larry Early III defeated seventh-ranked Paul Fox of Stanford 10-4 in a 157-pound semifinal, and the Monarchs placed second behind No. 8 Virginia Tech at the Hokie Open wrestling tournament.
Kevin Budock and Killian Cardinale notched individual titles in the freshman/sophomore division for ODU, which had 188 points to the Hokies’ 220. Budock defeated Army’s Knox Fuller 10-7 and Cardinale won 9-8 over N.C. State’s Zurich Storm.
ODU hosts the Monarch Classic next Sunday.
