Old Dominion's Grace Haverly scored a tying goal with just 22 seconds left in regulation, but No. 1 seed North Texas got the game-winner less than two minutes into overtime, lifting the Mean Green to a 2-1 victory Wednesday in the Conference USA women's soccer quarterfinals.
North Texas (15-4-1, 9-1-0 C-USA) advances to a semifinal game, while the Lady Monarchs end their season 7-12-0 overall, 5-5-0 in the league.
"In the second half, they put pressure on us and probably deserved to take the lead," ODU coach Angie Hind said. "But wow, what character we showed to level the game with only seconds remaining; that's the sign of real character and indicative of our mentality today.
