Old Dominion President John Broderick announced this morning that the school will begin a $200 million capital fundraising campaign this fall designed in part to attract academically gifted students and help those who struggle to pay for college.

Speaking at his annual state of the university presentation before about 1,500 people at the Ted Constant Convocation Center, Broderick also announced that new health sciences programs will begin at ODU's Virginia Beach campus, including telehealth, resiliency and water technology.

Details of the new programs at the Beach will be announced this fall, he said. Expansion of programs at the Virginia Beach campus eventually will require an additional building or refurbishment of the current facility, he said.
