Old Dominion, coming off a pair of opening-weekend wins that vaulted the Monarchs into the rankings, will host the 42nd annual ODU Soccer Classic this weekend.
Virginia Commonwealth, Saint Francis (Pa.) and Iona are the other participants in the event, which started in 1976 and is the longest-running active men’s soccer tourney in Division I. The Monarchs are 57-22-2 in the tourney and have won the Queens Cup (the championship trophy) 17 times.
ODU beat Appalachian State and Oakland last weekend by a combined 5-1 to earn a No. 20 national ranking.
