ODU scores 7 in first, goes on to rout VMI

Old Dominion scored seven runs in the first inning en route to a 14-2 nonconference baseball victory over VMI on Tuesday night at the Bud Metheny Complex.

Culver Lamb (Tallwood High) and Kyle Battle both had RBI singles in the first as ODU (12-4) matched its season high for runs in an inning .

Six ODU pitchers combined on a three-hitter, with starter Joe Strzelecki earned his first victory. The juco transfer went four innings, allowing one run on two hits and striking out four.

Lamb finished 2 for 3 with four RBIs and Battle went 2 for 3 with two RBIs.
