Jared Young and Western Branch High grad Zach Rutherford collected three hits and two RBIs apiece, and Old Dominion rallied for a series-clinching, 8-3 win over Alabama-Birmingham on Sunday at Young Memorial Field.
The Monarchs (3-214, 16-8) improved to 11-1 in weekend series - 4-0 on the road - and retook sole possession of second place in Conference USA, three games behind Southern Miss (37-12, 19-5).
The Blazers (22-26, 8-16) carried a 2-0 lead into the sixth inning before the Monarchs scored on a wild pitch and an error to tie the game.
ODU batted around during a four-run seventh inning and added two more runs in the eighth.
