Ted Alexander, the long-time radio play-by-play announcer for Old Dominion basketball and football, has won a big promotion.
ODU athletic director Wood Selig announced Friday morning that Alexander will replace Debbie White, who retired last month after serving as a senior associate athletic director for external relations.
Alexander will not assume all of White's duties. "Not any one person could possibly do everything Debbie did," Alexander said.
Jason Chandler, an associate athletic director for strategic marketing and revenue generation, will oversee ODU's marketing efforts. Alexander said ODU's compliance department will take over other responsibilities.
But Alexander will assume White's title and most ODU's most high-profile sports entities.
