Old Dominion scored two first-half goals Wednesday and upset No. 2 seed South Carolina 2-1 in the quarterfinals of the Conference USA men’s soccer tournament.
In the 18th minute, Jimmy Filerman sent a cross into the box to Kaio DaSilva, who knocked it in for a 1-0 lead. Niko Klosterhalfen collected a rebound off a save and scored to double the Monarchs’ lead in the 32nd minute.
South Carolina finally scored in the 90th minute via a Bjorn Gudjonsson goal.
The Monarchs (6-8-1) will play Florida International, a 2-1 winner over Alabama-Birmingham, in the semifinals at 7 p.
