ODU Hosts Program For International Student-Athletes

The Student-Athlete Academic Services of Old Dominion University hosted its inaugural Student-Athlete International Program on Wednesday, October 19, 2016. This event was titled Global Monarchs and held in collaboration with Old Dominion University's VISA and Immigration Service Advising office.

There was an attendance of over 50 ODU International Student-Athletes, staff, and support personnel. The Student-Athletes brought popular dishes from their native countries in a potluck style. The VISA office had an educational workshop on F-1 regulations that all the Student-Athletes participated in.

Program Objectives for International Program:
· Create a strong peer support network for international student-athletes
· Provide leadership development from an international lens
· Encourage Student-Athletes to get involved on campus and in the community
· Educate peers on the different cultures in the room
· Promote the International demographic of Student-Athletes to staff, coaches, and other students on campus
