Fresh off its second Conference USA men's soccer championship, Old Dominion learned Monday afternoon that it will open NCAA tournament play at home Thursday against N.C. State.
The game will kick off at 7 p.m., and the winner earns a shot at No. 2 seed Indiana on Sunday.
The Monarchs, who beat Charlotte 1-0 on Sunday at the ODU Soccer Complex for the C-USA title, will be joined in the field by four other teams from the state: CAA champ William & Mary, ACC runner-up Virginia and Atlantic-10 runner-up VCU and Virginia Tech.
Since allowing a combined six goals in back-to-back losses to Florida International and South Carolina in late October, ODU has ridden an unbreakable defense.
