WHITE SULPHUR SPRINGS, W.Va. | Old Dominion freshman Nick Rencis shot a final-round 65 on Tuesday to shock the field and capture the Greenbrier Collegiate Invitational on Tuesday .
Rencis’ title was the first tournament crown earned by an ODU men’s golfer this season, and it came with him competing as an individual. He had not been included in the group of Monarchs who would count for the team score. So ODU, which finished 10th in the 17-team field, didn’t get to include his effort.
Competing in just his fourth collegiate event, Rencis shot a pair of 71s before his fine final round, finishing at minus-3 and winning by two shots over Adrian Meronk of team champion East Tennessee State.
