Old Dominion freshman Cameran Nery-Strickland has been named the Big East Defensive Player of the Week in field hockey, the league announced Monday.
Nery-Strickland had two assists in ODU’s 4-0 victory over Temple on Friday. The First Colonial High grad also helped the Monarch defense post its first shutout of the season, as the back line held Temple to just three shots.
As a true freshman, Nery-Strickland has played in all 12 games, including seven starts. She leads the team in assists with six and has now recorded an assist in four of the last five games.
