Max Wilschrey punched in a penalty kick in the 81st minute, lifting Old Dominion to a 2-1 win Friday over Charlotte in a Conference USA men's soccer match.
The Monarchs (7-1-2, 4-0-0) outshot the 49ers 17-3 in winning their fifth straight. ODU leads the C-USA standings with 12 points.
Charlotte (3-3-3, 1-1-2) scored in the seventh minute and carried the lead until the 61st, when an own goal equalized for ODU.
Mertcan Akar made nine saves for the Monarchs, who return home to face Coastal Carolina on Oct. 14.
