ODU defender honored as best in C-USA women's soccer

Jackie Stroud of Old Dominion was named Defensive Player of the Year in Conference USA women’s soccer on Tuesday.

The redshirt-senior was the conference defensive player of the week twice and captained a freshman backline that allowed one goal or less in 13 of their 16 games.

She was the Monarchs’ only first-team All-CUSA selection, but they had a pair of second-team picks in forwards Iris Ashterhof and Natalie Johnson. Midfielder Carla Morich made the all-rookie team.
