ODU can't hold onto 5-1 lead, falls to Liberty in baseball

Liberty rallied from a 5-1 deficit, scoring three runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to hand Old Dominion a 7-6 non-conference defeat Wednesday in Lynchburg.

Payton Scarbrough and Josh Latta had three hits each, while Will Shepherd drove in two runs to lead the Flames (23-27).

Kurt Sinnen (Kellam) went 2 for 5 with four RBIs and Connor Myers had the other two RBIs for the Monarchs (29-19).

Sinnen’s three-run double in the third gave ODU a 3-0 lead. The Monarchs made it 5-1 in the fifth on Sinnen’s RBI single and Myers’ RBI groundout.
