ODU baseball alumni return for banquet

Tampa Bay Rays pitcher Ryan Yarbrough and Rays bench coach Matt Quatraro, both Old Dominion baseball alumni, will headline the 2019 Old Dominion baseball banquet, the school announced Friday.

Norfolk State athletic director Marty Miller will receive the Bud Metheny Award at the banquet to be held Friday, Jan. 11 at the Sheraton Waterside Hotel in Norfolk.

Yarbrough, drafted in the fourth round of the 2014 MLB draft, finished a strong rookie season this year with a 16-6 record and 3.91 ERA. He was fifth in American League Rookie of the Year voting.

Quatraro led the Monarchs to three straight CAA championships from 1994 to 1996, earning second-team All-American honors in '96 while hitting .
