PORTSMOUTH, Va. (WAVY) — After more than two weeks of talks and several days of negotiations, Old Dominion officials and football coach Bobby Wilder are close to finalizing a new contract.
The new deal will provide Wilder with a raise and a compensation package that may include some goals that might seem unobtainable.
But are they?
Both sides indicate that they would like to have a deal finalized before the team leaves for Nassau Monday morning to begin preparations for the Bahamas Bowl game against Eastern Michigan. Old Dominion officials have indicated that a final offer was made to the coach regarding his compensation, but Wilder’s agent Dennis Cordell and Coach Wilder are asking for more money for the team’s assistant coaches before finalizing the deal.
