Football:
Old Dominion football player Mufu Taiwo was among Conference USA’s $4,000 Jim Castañeda Postgraduate Scholarship recipients.
Taiwo had 12 tackles and a fumble recovery in 12 games last season. An information technology major, Taiwo will complete his master’s degree in public administration at ODU.
Track and field:
Hampton High graduate Tori Ray of N.C. A&T gained numerous All-America awards via last weekend’s NCAA Championships in Austin, Texas.
The junior made the 400-meter dash second team by finishing 14th in 53.15 seconds, was on the 4x100 relay first team based on the Aggies’ sixth-place finish in 43.
