Monday's regional sports roundup: Granby alumna DiNunzio takes stroke-play qualifying lead at VSGA Women's Amateur Championship

Norfolk's Becca DiNunzio, who graduated from Granby High in June and soon will play for Virginia Tech, carded an even-par 70 for a one-shot lead after the first-day of stroke-play qualifying at Princess Anne Country Club in Virginia Beach for the 94th VSGA Women's Amateur Championship.

Old Dominion women's golf coach Mallory Hetzel was second at 71.

The second round of stroke-play qualifying is Tuesday, with the top 16 advancing to match play, which begins Wednesday. The semifinals and 18-hole championship match are scheduled for Thursday.

No previous winners of the tournament are in the field.
