NORFOLK, Va. -- David Washington threw four touchdown passes and Aaron Young scored on an interception return to lead Old Dominion (1-0) over Hampton (0-1), 54-21, on Sunday afternoon at Foreman Field at S.B. Ballard Stadium.
Ray Lawry added 172 yards from scrimmage and two touchdowns to help the Monarch offense to 500 yards of total offense.
The Monarchs carried a 31-14 lead into halftime, as Washington threw for 146 of his 187 yards and three touchdowns in the opening half. The Pirates opened the second half with a touchdown to pull within 10 early in the third quarter, but ODU concluded the game with 23 unanswered points.
