Seven Old Dominion players were selected to the Conference USA men's soccer teams announced Tuesday, headed by goalkeeper Mertcan Akar.
Akar was a first-team All-CUSA pick and also shared the Golden Glove award as top keeper with Kentucky’s Enrique Facusse. Akar had six shutouts this season and was the league's defensive Player of the Week three times.
Three Monarchs earned second-team honors: midfielders Brandon Perdue and Niko Klosterhalfen and defender Fox Slotemaker. Max Wilschrey and Sebastien Hauret earn made the third team.
Perdue was named to the all-freshman team, along with teammate Hans Kroschwitz.
ODU is hosting the conference tournament starting Wednesday with three first-round games at the ODU Soccer Complex.
