NORFOLK, Va. – In a game that the Monarchs led for 33:22 of the 40 minutes, the Old Dominion men’s basketball team (5-4, 0-0 C-USA) fell to VCU (7-3, 0-0 A-10) by a 67-64 score on Saturday night in front of a sold-out crowd (8,472) at the Ted Constant Convocation Center, on night that former Monarch great Kent Bazemore had his jersey retired and was inducted into the ODU Ring of Honor.
VCU used a 16-1 run to take a 56-50 advantage with 4:11 remaining in regulation. Two Ahmad Caver free-throws and a Brandan Stith dunk got Old Dominion within one, 63-62, with 1:44 to play, forcing an VCU timeout.
