NORFOLK, Va. – In the 82nd all-time meeting and 2016-17 season opener for Old Dominion (1-0) and James Madison (0-1), the Monarchs defeated JMU, 62-55, in front of a crowd of 8,241 at the Ted Constant Center on Friday night.
Brandan Stith and Jordan Baker both registered career highs in scoring and combined for 44 points to pace the Monarchs. Stith scored 23 points and added 11 rebounds for the double-double, while Baker tallied 21 points.
In the first half, despite the ODU defense forcing 11 JMU first-half turnovers, the Dukes carried a 31-30 lead into halftime.
