Old Dominion women’s basketball coach Karen Barefoot was in her locker room longer than usual Thursday night. And if her message to the team was the same as it was in her postgame press conference, it was a stern meeting.
Middle Tennessee State rode a 28-point, 10-rebound effort from center Alex Johnson and got 24 points from guard Ty Petty to run away from the Lady Monarchs 80-63. The defeat ended ODU’s four-game winning streak.
The game was a rematch of last year’s Conference USA championship game, which MTSU won 70-54. The Lady Monarchs were playing their fourth game in four days last season and ran out of gas.
