Middle Tennessee blasts Old Dominion in finale of three-game set

Old Dominion true freshman John Wilson (5-1) suffered his first loss of the season, giving up five runs in the first inning of a 17-6 Conference USA setback Sunday at Middle Tennessee.

The game ended after seven innings because of the conference's travel day mercy rule. Leading 8-4, the Blue Raiders put the game away with seven runs in the fifth inning. They hit five home runs on the day.

Despite the loss, the Monarchs (24-9, 9-3) won two of three, improving to 7-0 in weekend series and maintaining a second-place tie in C-USA with Florida Atlantic, one game behind Southern Miss.
