NORFOLK, Va. - Old Dominion women's golfer Jana Melichova has been named Rookie of the Year in the Virginia All-State University Division Women's Golf Awards, as voted on by the Virginia Sports Information Directors (VaSID). Melichova and Charlotte De Corte earned first-team All-State honors, while Sana Tufail was named to the second team all-state.
Melichova, also named Conference USA Freshman of the Year closed out the year with a 72.9 stroke average. Marked her best career finish in her first-ever collegiate tournament with a 2nd place finish, which included a 66 in the second round. Her 66 in the Golfweek Program Challenge was a school record for lowest 18-hole score.
