Loss to Liberty knocks ODU out of Big East field hockey tournament

Erin Huffman scored Old Dominion's only goal Friday afternoon in a season-ending 3-1 loss to Liberty in the Big East field hockey semifinals at Lennon Family Field.

The No. 2-seeded Flames tallied in the fifth minute, then again in the 26th, to take a 2-0 halftime lead. They extended their advantage in the 47th minute before Huffman finished a cross from Danielle Grega in the 65th minute for the third-seeded Monarchs' goal.

Kealsoe Robles and Lacey Frazier split the game in goal and combined for three saves for ODU (8-10), which outshot the Flames 10-9.

Liberty (8-10), which defeated ODU twice this season, meets top-seeded and top-ranked Connecticut (18-0) in today's championship.
