Late push by ODU falls short as South Carolina wins 3-2

NORFOLK, Va. – Old Dominion men’s soccer fell to South Carolina 3-2 on Saturday evening at the ODU Soccer Complex in Conference USA action. The Monarchs fall to 3-6-2, 0-3-1 (C-USA) while the Gamecocks improve to 9-4-1, 4-0-1 (C-USA).

Johan De Picker scored his first goal of the season to get the Monarchs on the board in the 52th minute. ODU’s second point came on a South Carolina own goal by Christoffer Ianev as he tried to clear Niko Klosterhalfen’s shot with just three minutes remaining in regulation.

ODU led the evening in shots 20-9 and corner kicks 10-4, while South Carolina’s keeper, William Pyle, recorded six saves.
