Norfolk State pitcher Devin Hemmerich added yet another honor to his growing list of accolades Thursday, when he became the first Spartan to be named to a Division I All-American team.
The senior left hander from Chesapeake, was chosen as a third-team All-American by Collegiate Baseball News. A 2014 freshman All-American, Hemmerich's historic 2017 campaign included a 10-2 record, 1.97 earned-run average and a school-record 118 strikeouts en route to MEAC Pitcher of the Year honors.
Hemmerich, who played at Atlantic Shores Christian, tied the season NSU record for victories and set school career records for wins (24) and strikeouts (315).
