NORFOLK - Max Wilschrey played soccer in Germany’s fourth division two years ago while balancing studying in his free time.
The chance to combine earning his degree and continuing to play soccer at a high level brought him to the United States for his final two years of college eligibility.
“That was the main point of coming to the U.S.,” said Wilschrey, now a senior at Old Dominion. “I also wanted to get a new experience in a new country (and) see New York, L.A., the big cities. But I ended up here and I really like it here.
