The Old Dominion alumni team’s venture into The Basketball Tournament lasted just one game this summer.
Kevin Jones and Jaysean Paige each scored 17 points, and John Flowers contributed 16 as Best Virginia broke from a four-point game in the third quarter to top Seven City Royalty 79-63 Friday in the TBT Richmond Regional opener at VCU’s Siegel Center.
Best Virginia, a West Virginia University alumni team making its TBT debut, led by 12 at halftime before the former Monarchs made a third-quarter charge. But Best Virginia, which never trailed, pulled away by outscoring Seven City 25-15 in the fourth quarter, completing the game on Paige’s alley-oop slam.
